c. Excursions / Sightseeing

Evritania Prefecture is an enchanting place, one of the most beautiful areas in Greece. It is exceedingly green all year round, as it is full of verdant valleys, canyons and natural cascades (in the world renowned Padavrehei), majestic grottos adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, a particularly rich wild life (wild boars, wolves, bears, roes, a great number of predators and wild trout in Episkopi lake), as well as the largest earth dam in Europe (in Kremasta lake).

It is a place of hospitality, steeped in folk color, with many considerable monuments (the Byzantine monasteries of Tatarna and Proussos) and a notable history (an ancient legend tells of the archer Evritos, after whom the area was named, who was killed by the god Apollo when he dared challenge the god in a duel); it is a place that invites visitors to wander through it and live a truly rare experience.
